Since 1951, The Canberra Philharmonic Society, or Philo, has been delighting Canberra audiences with top quality musical theatre.
The enthusiasm, talent and energy of our members has resulted in a Society with a wide reputation for high quality productions which have launched many successful careers.
In the early days the productions were staged at the Albert Hall, opening with a concert version of Gilbert & Sullivan’s Yeoman of the Guard and ending in 1965 with Oklahoma!.
The Society then moved into the Canberra Theatre opening with a fully staged Yeoman of the Guard. Philo continued to perform principally at the Canberra Theatre until a move to Erindale Theatre in 2001.
Whilst there is an occasional return to the Canberra Theatre for particular shows, in general, Philo has now made Erindale its unoffical home.
